How much is Honda City hatchback 2024 in Malaysia?

The 2024 Honda City Hatchback facelift has made its debut in Malaysia, featuring a new petrol RS variant and Honda Sensing technology across all five versions, starting at RM86,000.

Honda Malaysia has officially launched the facelifted Honda City Hatchback in the country, with the refreshed five-door model making its debut earlier this morning. Similar to the pre-facelift version, the B-segment model is available in five variants, though there has been a change in the lineup.

The model range consists of four petrol variants and one hybrid at the top. The petrol variants include the 1.5L S, 1.5L E, and 1.5L V, with the new RS now taking the place of the previous 1.5L V-Sensing as the top petrol option. The e:HEV RS hybrid remains the flagship variant.

Here are the prices for the five facelifted Honda City Hatchback variants (on-the-road, without insurance):

  • City Hatchback 1.5L S – RM85,900
  • City Hatchback 1.5L E – RM90,900
  • City Hatchback 1.5L V – RM95,900
  • City Hatchback 1.5L RS – RM100,900
  • City Hatchback 1.5L e:HEV RS hybrid – RM112,900

The facelift introduces minor exterior styling revisions and new equipment, akin to the updates seen on the City sedan launched last August. Exterior changes include a slimmer chrome bar on the upper front end, a larger grille with a new mesh insert design, and a reworked front bumper with distinct accents for RS and non-RS variants. RS versions feature a more prominent fog lamp garnish and a honeycomb mesh for the lower intake with additional trim elements simulating air inlets.

At the rear, non-RS variants now have a new black valance with a body-colored panel strip on the lower apron, while RS variants boast a sportier diffuser, black side mirror covers, and variant-specific emblems. The S and E grades are equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels and 185/60 profile tires, while the V and RS variants feature 16-inch wheels with 185/55 tires.

Dimensions are largely unchanged from the pre-facelift model, with a length of 4,350 mm (+1 mm) and a width of 1,748 mm. The height is now 1,488 mm, which is 18 mm taller. RS variants are slightly longer at 4,369 mm due to their specific bumpers.

The boot offers 289 liters of cargo space with all seats up, which is 230 liters less than the sedan. Folding the rear seats provides 841 liters of space, or 1,189 liters up to the roof.

The powertrains remain unchanged. The petrol variants are powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated inline-four DOHC i-VTEC engine, delivering 121 PS (119 hp or 89 kW) at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm, with power sent to the front wheels via a CVT.

The e:HEV RS hybrid employs the Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) hybrid system, with an electric motor rated at 109 PS (107 hp or 80 kW) and 253 Nm of torque driving the front wheels. A second electric motor, linked to a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine running on the Atkinson cycle, charges the lithium-ion battery. The engine alone produces 98 PS (97 hp or 72 kW) from 5,600 to 6,400 rpm and 127 Nm of torque from 4,500 to 5,000 rpm. It primarily acts as a generator but can provide direct drive at higher speeds through a single-speed E-CVT.

Standard equipment from the pre-facelift model largely carries over. The base S variant includes halogen projector auto headlights with LED daytime running lights, fabric seats, a urethane steering wheel and gear shift knob, paddle shifters, a 4.2-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster, keyless entry, push-button start, walk-away auto lock, manual air conditioning, fabric upholstery, a single USB port, a Bluetooth-enabled Standard Audio head unit, and four speakers.

The E variant adds remote engine start, single-zone automatic climate control, a reverse camera, an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, four additional tweeters for a total of eight speakers, and two USB Type-C charging ports.

The V variant includes full-LED headlights, front LED fog lights, leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob, and rear air-conditioning vents. The RS variants feature a seven-inch TFT instrument display, sport pedals, black headlining, red interior trim accents, and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Both RS variants also come with Honda Connect services, offering automatic collision and alarm detection, speed and geo-fencing alerts, a vehicle locator, and emergency calls.

Safety and driver assistance features have been upgraded, with all variants now including six airbags (front, side, and side curtain) and Honda Sensing as standard. Honda Sensing includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW), Auto High-Beam (AHB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and a new Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN). The RS hybrid's electronic parking brake adds a Low-Speed Follow (LSF) function to the ACC. The LaneWatch side camera system is available from the V grade onwards.

The facelifted City Hatchback is available in four exterior colors: Ignite Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, and Lunar Silver Metallic. Crystal Black Pearl is no longer offered. Note that Lunar Silver Metallic is not available for the e:HEV RS.
